Paintings of seascapes, sea, coast, ships, seabed, coral. , oil painting and watercolorsThe painting of marine landscapes does not limit itself to the classic exercise of maritime art anymore. The subject has considerably opened itself due to the exploration of distant seas, the photographic documentation and the discovery of the underwater world. The corals for example can be the subject of original paintings, with oil or with watercolours. Maritime painting is however a genre that has always seduced me, particularly some paintings of the 19th century such as the ones of Richard Parks Bonington whom I like both for his oils as for his watercolours. I can’t resist to the temptation of showing you the fourth copies of watercolours opposite which have been for me very pleasant exercises and full of lessons. (They don’t lay claim to the status of original works and are not to sell). Boats are obviously a top grade subject, but having a preference for the aestheticism of sailing boats, I plan to realize marines representing ancient boats developed from old riggings rebuilt or restored these days, models and ancient paintings. |
