Flowers have always inspired painters; the vegetable world generally speaking always shows through decorative motifs, both in the textile world and in the architecture. The ornamental gardens testify to our attachment to the vegetable world and our need of greenery; they often are true little pieces of heaven. The maintenance of a garden is the bond with nature kept by those of us who are not farmers, and it links us to that ancestral wisdom of plantations and seasons. As for the painters, Monet particularly liked his garden in Giverny where he drew a major part of his inspiration and serenity. The painting of flowers has come down through the ages and has always known how to adapt.
